Description hdu@apache.org 2008-09-11 16:59:32 UTC
Since OSX doesn't advertise the fonts capabilites like weight, slant, width et. al but just provides the font
names + styles we have to guess the attributes. This is done especially using the language independent
names of the font. It is especially difficult if the font abbreviates its style names like e.g. Myriad Pro:
"MyriadPro-CondIt","MyriadPro-SemiboldIt", "MyriadPro-Regular","MyriadPro-BoldCond","MyriadPro-
Semibold","MyriadPro-BoldIt","MyriadPro-Bold","MyriadPro-It","MyriadPro-Cond","MyriadPro-BoldCondIt"
Comment 1 hdu@apache.org 2008-09-11 17:18:54 UTC
The improved heuristics in CWS vcl94 catches this now.

@ih: if you can convince mh this might even be something for OOo30
Comment 2 hdu@apache.org 2008-09-12 09:00:48 UTC
CWS vcl94 also improves the heuristic for the "Minion Pro" family which advertises its condensed attribute
with "cn".

The fix is safe and only affects the Aqua port anyway. Considering the user experience on
systems that have the problematic fonts I still think that getting an approval for a OOo3.0
target would be quite beneficial.

@hi: please verify in CWS vcl94
Testing hints: test on a system which has Myriad*, Minion*, Warnock, Garamond Premier, Letter Gothic or Orator

New target 3.0.1. This issue affects standard Adobe font "Myriad" which is also
the default font of Apple, Inc.
