Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 39363
Predefined styles can not be deleted
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:39:07 UTC
I want to create my own base template from scratch and therefore remove most of the _many_ predifined styles and recreate only the ones that I need. For instance header 1 up to 10 is a little bit too much for my uses and it only clutters the stylist. However, the writer doesn't allow for me to remove any of the predefined styles so I can't clean the list up. I'd really appreciate it if this could be made possible! Thanks.
No, I am sorry. The pool of predefined Styles will always be available. These styles are all hardly connected to the Writer application and only saved in a document, when they are changed. This feature enhancement would cost to much development resources for a very small gain in functionality. If you want a kind of cleared list, change the view optin at the bottom of the Stylist from "Automatic" to "Custom styles".

Setting this to WONTFIX is a SERIOUS oversight. We can NOT roll out OOo to a number of Enterprise clients because the great number of default styles provided can not be deleted. Many of these Enterprises want a very small number of styles in the templates they use in order to make it VERY simple for their users to pick the correct style . . .
Reopeneing issue.
Reassigning to requirements, so that the possibility to delete the predefined styles will somehow be added.
